This is a book that has been sat on my TBR for quite some time. I have seen so many people talking about how great this series is and now i’m kicking myself for two reasons. 1, for taking so long to start this series and 2, for buying them on the kindle because this series is definitely one for my shelves.
This book had me hooked from the beginning, and i instantly felt a connection to Lucy, so strong that before i had even finished the prologue i already wanted to cry for her. I could feel her pain emanating from the pages.
This story followed Lucy and the police while there were a spate of local killings and Lucy was one of the biggest connections, but all the while Lucy was dealing with her own torment behind the closed doors of her home.
This was an incredible debut by the author and i can completely understand why this is her baby. It is filled with vibrant, life-like characters – some who you will hate and others you will learn to love. It is written so beautifully you will feel like you are an active character in the book, especially when you feel as connected to some of the characters as i did.
This was a fantastic mystery that will keep you guessing until the end, and that is when the emotions will start to overtake, well they did with me anyway. By the end of the book i was in bits, all the grief and reality of what was written in the pages all hitting me at once.
This was an amazing read and i can not wait to start on book 2.
