Well … what can I say, this year has been something am I right. We were all on lockdown for so much of the year with plenty of time to read but half the time we ended up in a slump. I know I didn’t read half as many books as I wished I had this year but… all the books I read were pretty incredible.
I don’t think I read a book this year that was lower than 4 stars but almost most of them were 5 stars.
I couldn’t possibly even try to narrow it down to a top 5 or even a top 10, I have discovered new authors and caught up on books that I have been dying to read and discovered a few new favourite authors to add to my list.
However, that being said I would like to give a big shout out to two amazing reads this year that are both debut novels.
1. If I can’t have you by Charlotte Levin. This was a fantastic debut by the author and upon discovering a bit of history about the author and why the book was written it hit me even more. If you haven’t already read this book, it was like a breath of fresh air, it was uniquely written with an outstanding main character.
Here is my review for If I can’t have you … https://allysreadingcorner.com/2020/07/16/bookreview-if-i-cant-have-you-by-tinycharlotte72-bookblogger-bookworm-amreading-readingcommunity/
2. The second book I would really like to give a shout out to is sins of the father by Sharon Bairden. This debut was fantastically written, it was incredibly dark and twisted in ways you can not imagine. Sharon is a fellow book blogger turned author and although I don’t know her too well just seeing how excited and proud she is of her achievement on Twitter was completely overwhelming and I can honestly say I am so happy for her and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.
If you haven’t yet read sins of the father here is my review, take a look and I’m sure you will be heading straight over to the red dog website to order the book. https://allysreadingcorner.com/2020/12/01/here-is-my-review-for-sins-of-the-father-by-sbairden-reddogtweets/
I also just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has read, liked and commented on my book reviews on here and twitter and I hope you all have a fanatic 2021.
