MY DAD SAYS BAD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN I BREAK IT…
Daniel is looking forward to his birthday. He wants pie and chips, a big chocolate cake, and a comic book starring his favourite super hero. And as long as he follows The Rule, nothing bad will happen.
Daniel will be twenty-three next week. And he has no idea he’s about to kill a stranger.
Daniels parents know that their beloved and vulnerable son will be taken away. They know that Daniel didn’t mean to hurt anyone, he just doesn’t know his own strength. They dispose of the body. Isn’t that what any loving parent would do? But as forces on both sides of the law begin to close in on them, they realise they have no option but to finish what they started. Even if it means that others will have to die…
Because they will do anything to protect Daniel. Even murder.
What an incredible and tense read this was. After reading one of the authors previous books I could not wait to start this one and just as I thought, I was hooked from the prologue.
The story followed Daniels father trying to right a terrible wrong in order to protect his son… showing how breaking just one simple rule can turn into a big heap of trouble.
Daniel was my favourite character by a mile in this story – although I had a lot of respect for his dad, Daniel stole the book. Although my first impression of Daniel was comical (how children have no filter) I must say after not reading the blurb first, I was shocked to find that Daniel was in fact an adult but this just made me like him even more. The pure innocence really resonated with me and he was just so incredibly nice, and vibrant.
The fear for Daniel is mainly what kept me on the edge of my seat throughout this entire book, praying he could keep quiet while really not expecting him too.
This is most certainly one hell of a read for anyone who loves a thriller.
