As the snow begins to fall, the body count begins to climb…
DI James Walker is ready for a quiet family christmas in the sleepy village of Kirkby Abbey.
But when he opens an early Christmas present left on his doorstep, he soon realises it is no gift. Inside is a gruesome surprise, and a promise – twelve days, twelve murders. Not long after, the first body is found, half frozen in the snow.
As the blizzards descend, panic spreads through the remote Cumbrian village – there’s a killer amongst them, and with eleven more victims to go, anyone could be next…
Can James stop the killer before they strike again?
Ok… so this has literally been sat on my kindle for a year. It has to a Christmas read obviously …. Just check out the title! So FINALLY I got around to reading the first of Alex Pines Christmas Killer books.
This book had an amazing storyline, it was everything I would want from a thriller – captivating, intriguing and best of all I had no idea who the killer was.
I love nothing more than to play detective when reading crime thrillers and yes, I love it when I guess and I am right it makes me think I’m awesome, but if I can’t guess it makes the story more interesting for me.
About half way through, I had a thought about who I thought the killer was… but, I dismissed it and it turns out I was actually right.
This book was incredibly well written, it definitely kept you guessing. However, that being said – I could not connect to any of the characters, they all seemed like extra’s rather than main characters to me. That was fairly disappointing but I will definitely be reading the next in the series because the storyline was pretty awesome.
